AJK Prime Minister Lauds Shahbaz Sharif’s Response To Protesters’ Demands

MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq commended Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s swift response to the demands of protesters.
In a press conference flanked by his entire cabinet, Prime Minister Haq lauds the unprecedented economic package announced by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for AJK, allowing for reductions in power tariffs and increased wheat flour subsidies as demanded by demonstrators.
However, Anwar-ul-Haq criticized the leadership of the Joint Action Committee for failing to promptly announce the acceptance of their demands which led to a few unfortunate incidents of loss of lives and property of the law enforcement agencies.
Attributing the chaos to identified troublemakers acting at the behest of external adversaries, PM Anwar assured legal action against them while affirming AJK’s unwavering bond with Pakistan. Despite provocations, he underscored the restraint exercised by law enforcement, emphasizing dialogue over confrontation.
Highlighting police injuries and casualties amid arson attacks, Haq pledged to combat power theft and smuggling, leveraging technology for effective enforcement. He addressed demands to review government privileges, citing efforts to minimize them and proposing a judicial commission for scrutiny.
“A foolproof mechanism is being prepared by using technology to overcome the smuggling of wheat and flour otherwise this lowest rate flour will not be available to the poor people and the mafias will make money through smuggling,” he informed the media.
The Prime Minister reiterated their resolve to uphold law and order and advance AJK’s socio-economic welfare, emphasizing collaboration and technological solutions in addressing systemic challenges.
The Prime Minister claimed that his cabinet members and other government functionaries were availing minimum privileges compared to the functionaries of the other provinces and that’s why he had asked the chief Justice High Court to constitute a judicial commission to review these and submit its report.
