Police have found the body of a woman who vanished in the Lake Macquarie area in New South Wales.

The 63-year-old was last contacted about 11.30am yesterday and officers found a body, believed the missing woman, about 12pm today in a nature reserve near Newcastle.

“The body of a woman was located near a waterway at Glenrock nature reserve at Kahibah,” NSW Police said in a statement.

The woman’s body was found in Glenrock State Conservation Area.

It’s believed she went for a walk in the area.

The woman is yet to be formally identified.

Her cause of death is not known and police are waiting on the outcome of a coroner’s report.

There were serious concerns for her welfare as she lived with conditions that required ongoing treatment.
