Four arrested following robbery at jewellery store in Paarl

Four people were arrested just moments after a jewellery store on Lady Grey Street in Paarl was robbed.

On Tuesday, around 9:30am, four armed suspects entered the store, threatened staff and locked them in a room. They fled the scene with a consignment of jewellery, cellphones and other valuables.

According to Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi of the South African Police Service (SAPS), one of the suspects was arrested by security personnel in Van Der Lingen Street. As a result, some of the stolen items were recovered.

The remaining three suspects were pursued by Paarl SAPS. They were subsequently arrested in Paarl East, where they were found in possession of an undisclosed amount of jewellery.

The suspects will appear in the Paarl Magistrates’ Court on a charge of robbery.
