Two charged in narcotics investigation, Hobart police say

MERRILLVILLE — Investigators with the Hobart Police Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at a Merrillville hotel Tuesday as part of an ongoing narcotics trafficking investigation near the Hobart/Merrillville border.

Investigators learned two individuals were dealing various quantities of cocaine and heroin in the surrounding area, the Hobart Police Department said in a statement. The individuals were identified as Jamal Allen and Lauren Zinmer.

Jamal Allen was arrested Wednesday after over eight grams of a suspected heroin/fentanyl mixture and more than 16 grams of suspected cocaine were confiscated from a Merrillville hotel room, police said.




Police seized over eight grams of a suspected heroin/fentanyl mixture and more than 16 grams of suspected cocaine. Investigators also discovered a large amount of cash inside the couple’s hotel room, which they shared with their small child who was present at the time of the search, police said.

Lauren Zinmer was arrested Wednesday after over eight grams of a suspected heroin/fentanyl mixture and more than 16 grams of suspected cocaine were confiscated from a Merrillville hotel room, police said.




Allen and Zinmer were arrested and collectively face 21 felony and misdemeanor charges.
